Snip Snip

While we were playing outside a few days ago, I let this little one dig in the dirt...and get super dusty dirty.

We don't really have grass in our backyard (thanks, Warrior!). It's more like a giant dust pit.

She took her "doots" (boots) off and dug her sock feet into the dust. There's still a little on her face.

She had a really fun time.

And when we came inside, a dose of inspiration and courage hit me...

I gave the camera to Sister. She captured all of this! (And I'm so thankful. She did awesome!)

I was a little concerned with how the hair cut would turn out...

Her hair is very fine and straight.

A snack always helps!

She was really excited.

I think she felt super grown up. She kept grinning and pulling her shoulders up.

Ta-da!

Preciousness, I'd say.

A smile and "about time" was The Engineer's response.

If you talk to Little Bit, she'll probably grab a section of her hair to show you.

And just to keep it real, I thought I'd show you our master bathroom - where the hair cut took place.

Seven years. That's how long we've lived with it like this. This Christmas will make eight.

For a while we had our family picture with Dave taped where a mirror should be - as inspiration and a reminder why it's ok, even good, to live with our bathroom looking like this.

The walls will have to be re-sheet rocked. They were in pretty bad shape. The Engineer hit the window with the ladder in the middle of the night shortly after we'd moved in - he was trying to stop a roof leak - and bam! Broken glass...hence the duct tape. And well, it is what it is. And I'm okay with that. One day...one day.

Happy weekend, y'all!

  1. A.d.o.r.a.b.l.e!!!!! I love little girls with pageboy haircuts. It seems like just a few months ago you posted a photo of her first pigtails. And, what beautiful photos of her too. Her eyes always pop... bright eyes!

I find myself saying, "It is what it is," a good bit these days. And, no matter what "it" is, life keeps on rolling and God's mercies keep pouring down.

  5. She is so precious. ALL of your children are precious. Love her haircut and wouldn't mind have a "do" like that, myself.

(And, also, your pictures are stunning! Wish you'd post a tutorial on how you edit...especially those black and whites!)

  6. She is stunning! Love the haircut. I do Katie's also, but she doesn't sit very still, so it's not always so even ;) And we have those purple jammies too! As for the bathroom, I admire you and Taylor so much for keeping your eyes on the goal and not being swayed by the desires of today. You have no idea how inspiring you are to me!

  7. Love the bathroom. We could certainly do more "living with" than we do. We're currently living with a broken dishwasher, which is not too much of a burden, and I guess we've been living with very junky but sort of still running cars.

    Good for you!

  8. You can sing, dance, decorate AND cut hair?!?! Wow! You are amazing and it looks really, really good. Everytime I cut my girl's hair it is a disaster.

  9. I love her hair. My daughter's is the same--fine and straight. Our hairdresser has had to cancel three times and I am about to bite the bullet and cut it myself, but I'm so afraid. You did a great job.

  11. Love her hair!!! She looks so chic!!
And your bathroom comment made me laugh. We lived for almost 5 years with our house like that...finally finished it...and now we have to sell it. Boo! But, you know what? It's just a house. At the end of the day, it is simply something that puts a roof over our heads, ya know?
