We've been at it again. It is so much fun. We pick the fabric...we pin the pieces...she cuts a few of the straight pieces...she sits in my lap while we run it through the machine. All in all, she puts in maybe half an hour, (it takes me much longer) but she's in and out of my office non-stop.
Several months ago my neighbor, who is in her late eighties, walked me through a pattern and answered my questions. While I'm still quite a novice and have much to learn, she gave me a key that unlocked a wonderful world. I can't tell you the delight it brings to me to see my children wearing things I've made them. If you have the slightest desire to learn to sew, oh, I encourage you to RUN and find a friend who will walk you through the basics. I promise, you can do it. And once you get the hang of it...the possibilities are endless! And wonderful!
Love the outfit! Cas bought me a sewing machine a few years ago for Christmas and I have only used it a few times for things with straight lines! I really want to take a sewing class especially before I have children! By the way I bought grapes and froze them! Love them! I have some Bananas to freeze too!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! How wonderful that you sew together...it is a blessing to pass that along! You are right...the possibilities are endless! I grew up sewing and now have the machine I learned on...it's OLD. ;-) They don't make 'em like that anymore...I am thankful for it!! The jeans it has tackled in its day accounts for its sturdiness....and with boys it has to be sturdy. :)
ReplyDeleteLove this post!
Have FUN!!
Love,
Camille
P.S. I will answer your question on my blog, but I plan to email you as well. :)
Wow, I'm impressed! She looks so pretty.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, my friend!
Oh, I had a wonderful vacation with my hubby. I haven't relaxed like since I don't know when. I guess I didn't realize how hard I actually do work! LOL!
ReplyDeleteJ, your fitting is beautiful, and that is so hard to do. What a nice activity for both of you!
ReplyDeleteShe looks so fresh and springy! I'm looking forward to days when baby sister and I can sew together like you two.
ReplyDeleteI have my mother-in-law to thank for championing my dream of learning to sew. You're so right, all it takes is one or two lessons in explaining how it works and the rest can be learned by trial and {lots of} error!

ReplyDeleteThanks so much for coming over to my blog! I'm glad you liked it!
This creation is way too cute, by the way. You're right...sewing is a wonderful thing, and is often best done with help! (I still call my mom for help some times!) Love the colors...any chance this pattern comes in adult sizes? :)
I am so impressed! I love to sew and do so when I can. That is a gorgeous outfit. I love the Fabric. Is it Heather Bailey?
