Tacos, Popsicles, and a Jeep

What a fun, fun, fun last 24 hours we've had!!!

When MW heard of my plans to make spaghetti for dinner last night, she politely asked me not to...so we put our heads together and decided to make tacos instead...only, I didn't have any taco seasoning...thank goodness for the internet. After a little poking around I came across this recipe and it was a winner!!! (thanks allrecipes.com)

Taco Seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
I measured and dumped and MW mixed...I cooked one lb of ground beef and added all of the seasoning...and according to my man, "it was really good."

While I cooked the little ones entertained themselves outside...following a most splendid dinner, alfresco...popsicles for dessert!

Is there anything sweeter??? I love it that my children love each other. (sometimes...)

Morning came early as my sweet husband woke me with a kiss and a steaming cup of cappuccino at 5am, as he was walking out the door for work...sweet!

I love having a little time to myself before the day really gets going. There's something wonderfully romantic about that blue-ish tint the early morning light casts in our home...and since I was up early...and also since MW isn't a morning person...I've found that bringing her breakfast in bed is a fabulous way to ease her into the day...and while I can do that, I am going to do that. (I remember Mama bringing me breakfast in bed...such special times!) So I warmed up some left over cinnamon rolls and woke the princess. After breakfast and a short little devo. (btw - if you have a girly little girl, this devo. book is GREAT!!! Packed full of how wonderfully created we are!) MW asked why I brought her "candy" for breakfast and then asked for plain toast...ha!

This afternoon we ate lunch in the backyard...a picnic of sorts...MW drove little man all over  in her jeep. After extreme whiplash, he'd had enough and they spent the rest of the time climbing and sliding and running around...which has me super excited about their birthday present (shhhhh....don't tell!). The fam is going in together to get them a swing set!!! We'll give it to them on MW's b'day...since T3 is still so little...they are going to have a BLAST on it!!!

I noticed my coke had disappeared...low and behold, so had the little man. He was hiding behind a pine tree...coke in hand. The look on his face says it all.

MW brought Sheryl, one of her babies, outside with us...MW proceeded to lift her dress and place Sheryl beneath it and then exclaimed, "Mama, I'm milking her."

And on that note...happy day to you.

  2. Just love you guys. Please pray for us. Bill has Pneumonia and I have Bronchitis. We both have fevers and feel crummy. We do have a nice lady bringing us some soup tomorrow, but so far no-one has taken our children. I would fly them to you but they can't fly unaccompanied until they are 8, so Will will be there for a visit soon! HA-HA. OK, I guess I'll stop being so grumpy and saying (sometimes yelling) Will COME ON>> in the mornings. You are making me look really bad. At least I get him up, feed him , help him get dressed and take him to school. I set a clock and took care of myself before walking to school when I was in elementary, so I guess things have improved generationally. In all seriousness, your making breakfast for MW in bed is encouraging me to ask God to help me to be a gentler Mama in the mornings. I have been praying about it, but need to continue. It is the most stressful time of the day, especially now, when we are up most of the night coughing.
Again, just love you guys. I love the pictures and being able to keep up with you. This comment is so long and really should have been an email! I guess steroids and narcotic cough syrup have me chatty.
